University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Prof. Michael De Volder is Reader at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) andDirector of NanoManufacturing Centre at Department of Engineeringin the University of Cambridge, UK. He is Fellow and Director of Studies in Engineering of St. John College at University of Cambridge. He studied nanoparticle synthesis and assembly in some of the world leading groups at MIT, University of Michigan and Harvard, USA. He also worked for several years at IMEC, an industry funded microelectronics research institute before joining Cambridge. He is recipient of an EPSRC starting grant and several EPSRC grants in the field. His work focuses on the development of scalable processes to arrange nanoparticles such as carbon nanotubes and graphene into well-defined superstructures. These may find application in Sensors, Electronics, catalysis, Energy Storage, Water Purification, and Smart Materials. He also works in the field of hierarchical assembly of nanoparticles and their scale-up manufacturing processes by using methods such as CVD, Roll-to-Roll coating etc.
